several states including Virginia, Florida,
& Colorado.
WHAT
CLIENTS
ARE SAYING
Wen Saunders is president of The
Wendy Saunders Companies, Inc.,
specializing in web site design, graphic
design, marketing seminars
and photojournalism services company/
www.wendysaunders.com) for small businesses.
Saunders has resided in Pagosa Springs,
Colorado for the past seven years. Directly
from college, she was hired as Marketing
Director for Ingram & Houser Real Estate (Hopewell,
VA), which became one of Virginia’s most
successful and largest real estate
companies. Wen's duties included all phases
of marketing including magazine & newspaper
ads, billboard design and production, and
print media (agent and property marketing).
Her advertising designs produced national
awards for
the company. She also conducted company and
agent marketing seminars. The company
partners eventually ventured into
two separate companies, Ingram & Associates
and Houser & Company. Today and over thirty
years later, Ingram & Associates still uses
her originally designed logo!
Life With
Purpose
Wen Saunders
believes in chasing dreams and that hard
work can change lives. She’s no stranger to
individual success. Top-performing
photographer. National speaker.
Sales and
marketing business coach. Saunders has
achieved all those titles in throughout her
photojournalism and marketing
35-year
career.
After semi
retiring from a photojournalism and
marketing career, she soon discovered a
passion for real estate. After all upon
graduation from college, she worked for one
of Virginia’s largest independent real
estate companies as their marketing
director.
Licensed
during the downward real estate spiral which
included a large number of short sales,
falling prices, and foreclosure, she was
told it would be impossible to start a
profitable real estate career. She wasn’t
daunted.
She
incorporates technology into all parts of
her business, from house signs and fliers
with QR
codes for more information and details of
the listing to designing her own created and
branded magazine and newspaper
advertisements.
She
quadrupled her sales in 2012, which was only
her second full year in real estate!
With Saunders,
Integrity is a nonnegotiable quality. Her
simple philosophy to put customers first,
while upholding herself to the highest
standards allows her to stay focused on the
best possible outcome. Saunders understands
clients want efficient communication, a
can-do attitude, and
want to
work with someone with the know-how to
overcome obstacles, especially in today’s
real estate market. Saunders has
certification as
a CDPE
(Certified Distressed Property Expert) and
has taken over 60 hours of additional real
estate courses (only 24 hours are required
in three years).
She
manages to find the time to educate herself
in this ever changing real estate market;
providing the best possible service to both
buyers and sellers.
Previously she resided in the cities of
Hopewell, (Virginia), St. Augustine
(Florida), Boulder and Lafayette (Colorado),
and Durango (Colorado). At one point,
she had photography studios in three cities
and produced every event from all of them
personally. In addition, over the ten year
period, Wendy lectured at 20 or 30 National PPA (Professional
Photographer of America) and WPPI
(Wedding Professional Photographers
International) photography
conventions, plus state and local
conventions to crowds of 10 people and up to
2,000+ professional photographers each,
enrolling them with her exquisite marketing,
print technique, and photojournalistic story
telling eye. She represented Hasselblad
USA, Tamron, Canon, Kodak,
and Fuji photo
manufacturers, attending national
conventions as their product speaker and
educator.
Today, she continues to work with Tamron
(nation’s largest lens manufacturer) through
lecturing. Tamron also continues to
use her images in their product marketing
and trade show booths and frequently looks
for her expertise in testing their product
in the field. She was profiled in a book by
the President of the Professional
Photographers of America, Ann Montieth, “The
25 Best Wedding Photographers in America”.
And she was interviewed by The
Knot, the Wall Street Journal, and Martha
Stewart Living for her views
on the difference between photojournalistic
wedding story creation versus ‘candid’ snap
shot weddings and the marketing thereof.
Tamron features her images in their
e-magazines, including western
(rodeo), street rod, and amateur photo
assignments. She has participated as an
artist in the Greeley
Stampede Western Art Show, The Sedona Art
Show, The Durango Street Art Show, and several
galleries throughout Colorado and the United
States.
For years, she was the lead photo moderator
on the AOL Photography
Forum(when AOL was the
internet and they had 30,000,000 subscribers
and that meant something very powerful). She
was in demand for week long private seminars
and as a studio development consultant. Her
educational materials were widely viewed by
the professional community. Articles and
interviews about her work and philosophy
appeared in virtually every industry related
publication.
Saunders served as Publicity
Director at Fort Lewis College Theatre (2003-05)
producing print media and public relations
for college theatre productions. She served
as Vice-President, Pagosa
Springs Art Council, and is Art
Line columnist for the Pagosa
Sun newspaper (writing a
weekly column for the arts in Pagosa Springs
and surrounding area). She also
produced an Arts & Entertainment section
bi-weekly for the Southwest
Free Press newspaper. She
continues to serve as marketing director
for The
Pagosa Quality Fishing Project (a
volunteer organization who releases trout
into the San Juan River thru town in Pagosa,
visit www.pagosaqualityfishingproject.com).
Wen Saunders has been a small business owner
and photojournalist covering life’s events
for over thirty years. She continues
to photograph and hand-print custom print
black and white photographic images in the
traditional darkroom on fiber archival
papers, almost a lost art in today’s digital
photography world. Displayed art
show images are a few of over 5,000+ images
she photographs during the year. This series
of images is part of a 100 limited edition
series of photographs, signed and numbered
by Saunders. Saunders covers events
throughout the nation, with a specialty in
Colorado including the western slope
(Breckenridge, Beaver Creek, and Keystone)
and the Front Range (Boulder, Denver,
Colorado Springs) and Grand Junction.
Saunders is familiar with the marketing
mindset of Colorado towns and the struggle
to gain market share toward tourism dollars.
She is a superb artist and craftsman of
public relations and photojournalistic story
telling style, a strong designer, and
tireless worker. She serves her clients’
needs, eschewing many industry honors and
recognition that would be showered on her to
focus on creating the 'perfect' reportage of
the wedding day or event in an artistic and
timeless style for the satisfaction of each
client.
In 2009, she also opened Artisans
of the Southwest Gallery and Wine Tasting
Room in Pagosa Springs. The
facility provided an opportunity for
hundreds of artists to display and sell
their work in a creative gallery and wine
tasting room environment. In the summer of
2010, the gallery was inundated with
rainwater on two occasions and the gallery
sought a new location. After spending most
of her financial resources to renovate the
original gallery, she searched for a
property that would not need another large
investment. A new location could not be
found and the facility closed. It is that
strange and devastating circumstance which
began her serious commitment to venture toward
a second career passion - real estate. Today,
she
is a full-time agent with RE/MAX
Eagle's Nest in
Pagosa Springs.
She holds a BFA from Virginia
Commonwealth University in
Communications Arts & Design.
Saunders is also recognized as one of the
leading event photojournalist in the U.S.
and credited with the re-emergence of black
and white photography during the wedding day
coverage. Saunders also conducts PhotoLEARN Children’s
Camps, PhotoLEARN Adult
Sessions, Marketing and Web Site Day
Seminars, and private web
site training sessions (visit
www.wendysaunders.com). She
completed the CDPE
(Certified Distressed Property Expert) and
CNE (Certified Negotiation Expert)
coursework
and is helping homeowners with selling and
buying. In her first six months of real
estate, Wen was a 2011
Million Dollar Producer and
Top
EXIT Realty Colorado Regional Producer in
November, 2011. In 2012, 2013
Wen received the RE/MAX 100% Club
recognition.
In 2014 Wen
joined Keller Williams Realty
Southwest Associates, LLC.
KW is the fastest
growing real estate firm in North America
(according
to Real Estate Trend Magazine) and changing the WORLD in real estate!
Keller Williams Realty southwest Associates,
LLC has over 50 agents (and still growing
when most companies are shrinking) in their
downtown Durango office.
KW, which
started in Austin, Texas (1983), is now
expanding into the Pagosa Springs market.
Wen was
chosen as their first agent to live and work
the Pagosa market!
The
KW philosophy is to “build
the career of our people, they will build
the company”.
Wen is
pleased
they are
approaching the Pagosa Springs market and
will grow an office here. For
Pagosa listing clients, KW is a grand
opportunity to network your property not
only throughout Pagosa Springs, but in
Durango as well!
I now will be a member of both
Realtor Boards (Pagosa Springs and Durango),
and marketing your properties throughout
southwest Colorado.
KW
Durango agents whom have clients interested
in Pagosa Springs now have a known fellow KW
agent to refer those clients.
Wen is honored to help individuals and
families - whether Buying or Selling. Her
attention to detail makes her clients
experience in purchasing and selling a most
pleasant one!
